Affirming Psychotherapy
You are not a problem to be fixed
A lot of what you’ve been told about who you’re supposed to be, how you’re supposed to cope, and what healing is supposed to look like is probably bullshit.
Medusa is a worker-owned cooperative. Every clinician here is an owner or on the path to ownership.
We offer trauma-informed, affirming therapy for people with complex inner worlds, particularly folks who are LGBTQ+, neurodivergent, or carrying the impact of trauma. We also work with therapists and other helpers who are used to being the one holding everything together.
Maybe you’re:
exhausted from holding it together
stuck in patterns you understand but can’t shift
disconnected from your body
navigating identity, relationships, or systems that weren’t built for you
We meet you where you are, not where society, a self-help book, an insurance company, or an emotionally unavailable relative thinks you should be by now.
Talking about the problem isn't the same as healing it.
Traditional talk therapy is great for understanding your patterns, but intellectual understanding doesn't automatically rewire your nervous system. You can be completely brilliant at analyzing your past and still feel entirely stuck in the exact same survival loops.
We do not just sit and recap your week. We specialize in depth-oriented, evidence-based trauma modalities designed to bypass the analytical brain and heal things at the root. If you are ready to stop managing your symptoms and start shifting your actual baseline, this is the toolkit we use to get you there:
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR): This approach uses bilateral stimulation, like eye movements or rhythmic tapping, to help your brain process and file away traumatic memories that got stuck. It takes the painful emotional charge out of your triggers so that the past finally feels like history.
Internal Family Systems (IFS): This model helps you map out the internal conflicts driving your behavior. Instead of pathologizing your anxiety, perfectionism, or coping mechanisms, we explore these parts of your psyche to understand what they are trying to protect. This brings rapid clarity and self-leadership back to your system.
Brainspotting (BSP): Where you look affects how you feel. This modality uses your visual field to locate, process, and release stress trapped in the deeper, subcortical parts of your brain. It bypasses your analytical mind entirely to access the deep physical trauma that talk therapy cannot reach.
You do not need to shrink yourself, explain yourself into palatability, or show up polished like you’re auditioning for Best Adjusted Person Alive.
The world is a lot. Life does not have to be so fucking hard.
Let’s figure this out together
